I've been developing my love and skill for reading Oracle and Tarot decks over twenty years, and consider interpretation of symbols to be one of my strengths. That said, I don't believe that makes me a special kind of person who can read the cards, while others simply cannot. I believe anyone CAN do this, if they choose to learn; that it is a teachable and practicable skill. (I also teach it! Look out for divination offerings on my Classes & Workshops page.)

As you'll see in my video linked here, where I answer "10 Questions Every Tarot Reader Must Answer", my readings are not the sort that predict specific dates, times, or events in your life. My readings are centered around spiritual guidance and insight which you can use to move forward on your path in the way you most see fit. I read the cards from a combination of symbolism and intuition: getting to know the cards and their stories, and seeing what they tell me about the situation at hand.

The way I work is such that each reading depends on the Reader who is interpreting the messages -- whether that is someone reading for themselves, or someone like me as the Reader, reading for a Querent. The cards that come up for me tell me a specific message. The same cards might say something different to someone else. My cards give the message to me in whatever ways I will understand, using my personal symbolism and associations, in order to relay it to you. That means my interpretations will not always match up with generic meanings you may read online or in books (because I'm not reading the meaning out of a book or website), or the way you would read it for yourself if you pulled the cards (because I am not you, and you are not me).

I, myself, am queer, and I don't assume cis/het/monogamy as the norm. I'm happy to read for any identity/expression (it's okay if you're not queer!), but you should know that I'm queer-, trans-, poly-, & kink-friendly, and will likely utter the phrase "f#ck the binary" at least once. (This point is important enough to me that it is repeated below on the page, in a progress pride flag colored highlight. 🙂)

I disagree with the idea that it is one way or the other. History and symbolism inform the variety of messages I may intuitively pick up on, and the way I interpret the symbolism that arises. I am constantly learning more about the skill sets I use, informing myself more on ways to be an effective reader. I read divination books, take classes and workshops with other readers, and spend time working with my decks to continue to learn new patterns and ways the cards may arise. I read for myself and others, all of which adds to my toolkit.
